The country’s Christmas tree has been an indispensable symbol of Christmas in Brno since 1924. It was first erected at Freedom Square at the instigation of writer Rudolf Těsnohlídek and became the first public Christmas tree in the country. It came from the Bílovice forest where a little girl was left in the snow and found in 1919, and the writer and his friends rescued her. This year, the tree celebrates its 100th anniversary and will once again come to Brno from Bílovice nad Svitavou. This will take place on 16 November. Come to Bílovice nad Svitavou to see the tree off on its journey, meet it en route or welcome it in Brno at Freedom Square.
