The Kupava Ukrainian folklore ensemble was founded in February 2023 on the grounds and with the support of the Ukrainian Centre in Brno. Kupava is an old Slavic name meaning “beautiful”, “festively dressed” or also describes a woman with a graceful proud walk. The ensemble is dedicated to folklore from different regions of Ukraine. It is traditional multi-voice singing accompanied by live music. Despite its short presence on the folklore scene, the ensemble performed at the Strážnice IFF 2023 in the Domovina programme, at the Jánošíkov dukát IFF 2023, at the Bread Festival in Slup, and took part in the Days of National Minorities in Brno and Kuřim.
